Please read the following information before making any travel plans:

  • Delegates are responsible for ensuring appropriate visas are obtained for attending the conference.
  • Be sure to check the travel restrictions to Greece on the website of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Plan ahead and schedule a time to submit your visa application materials several months before your intended departure.

  • For security reasons, letters of invitation can only be sent to delegates who have registered and paid for the conference.
  • Further information on the application process can be found on VFS Global website.
  • During your stay in Greece, you are advised to have suitable insurance coverage for emergency medical or other needs.

Transportation

Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) is located approximately 33 km east of central Athens. The city and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, venue of the MedGU-25, are easily accessible by several reliable transportation options:

  • Airport Express Bus (X95): Operates 24 hours a day between the airport and Syntagma Square, the heart of Athens. The journey takes around 60 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
  • Metro (Line 3 – Blue Line): Direct service connects the airport with Syntagma and Monastiraki stations in approximately 40 minutes.
  • Taxi: Official taxis are available at the arrivals level. The fixed fare to the city centre is approximately €40 during the day and €55 at night.
  • Private Transfers: Pre-booked shuttle and car services are also available and may be arranged through hotels or travel agencies.

These convenient connections ensure a comfortable and efficient transfer from the airport to the University of Athens and nearby accommodation areas (see Athens Visitors Guide and Rome2Rio platform).

The University of Athens main building is centrally located, just a short 10-minute walk from Syntagma Square, or one stop by metro (Line 2 – Red Line, from Syntagma to Panepistimio station). Both routes offer quick and direct access to the conference venue.

Athens offers a safe, efficient, and well-connected public transport network, making it easy for MedGU-25 participants to navigate the city during their stay. The Athens Visitors Guide has information about the city's public transport system.
